Today the Iron Brethren announced the planned beneficiary of the 2014 Bette Gardner Memorial Ride. The ride will take place on August 17th starting at the Lazybrook Park in Tunkhannock. The ride will be a poker run through the Endless Mountain Region of Pennsylvania, returning to the Lazybrook Park for a pig roast lunch provided by “The Pigmeister,” music to be provided by “Spin Brotherz“, vendors scheduled to appear with openings remaining for additional vendors of all types.
Funding obtained through the Bette Gardner Memorial Ride is used to assist people from the local area with their needs in combating potentially life threatening diseases. Bette Lynn Gardner lost her battle with cancer on June 2, 2009. Bette was a wife and mother to 4 children yet she was like a Mom to countless more. Bette was a 20 year member of Tunkhannock Community Ambulance Association where she served as an EMT/Crew Chief and board secretary. She was also an EMT instructor with EMS and CPR instructor with the American Red Cross. She had served on the Tunkhannock Borough Council as a member for 18 years. Please join us as we ride today in her memory, to give back to the community just as she had done.
The Iron Brethren have named Deb Micklo as the primary beneficiary. She was diagnosed in December 2013 with lung cancer. Her treatments have included radiation and chemotherapy.
Hope to see everyone there.
